There is no guarantee for the life span of a dog, but for the love of dog, ensuring the best of health and living conditions would help him live longer. The following 5 simple and easy steps would ensure maximum health and excellent lifestyle for the dog.

    1. Diet and Nutrition- A dog’s health and life span importantly depends on the diet of the dog. Ensure to ask a vet about the diet for your dog, based on age and health conditions of the dog. Check labels before purchasing dog food, and ensure to measure the food before serving your dog. Over-eating and obesity causes health hazards to dogs as well.
    2. Hygiene and Dental Care- A dog is easily prone to cavities built through plaque, bad breath and yellow teeth, which further lead to diseases risking the heart, kidneys and liver. Dental hygiene and over all hygiene should be maintained by regularly brushing teeth and body, bathing and grooming your pet.
    3.  Exercise and Training- Regular exercise helps your dog to stay fit and healthy. Its helps in increasing the confidence and improves digestion. A 30-60 minutes routine of daily exercise strengthens bones and joints, prevents obesity and improves sleep. A well trained dog obeys commands, and keeps himself out of harm and is calmer and healthier.
    4. Lifestyle and living conditions- The environment in which a dog is brought up plays an effective impact on the health and life span of the dog. A relaxed dog means a healthy body and mind. Stress causes to weaken the immune system and changes in the behavior such as avoidance, pinned ears, panting etc. Proper sleeping arrangements, toilet access, safety and a stress free environment effectively helps your dog to live healthier and longer lives.
    5. Veterinary and vaccination- Dog health should be of utmost priority. Paying regular visits to the veterinary can timely prevent diseases and health problems. Timely vaccinations help to guard against diseases and proper medication should be taken as and when the need be. spaying and neutering your dog will help your pet to live healthier and prevent life-threatening infections.

And the most important of all, dogs brought up and nurtured with gentleness love and care can live healthier, longer and livelier. Love your dog, because he may not be your world but you would mean the world to him. What are you thinking about?
