One of the biggest changes we’ve noticed over the past few years isn’t the quality of CBD itself.
It’s the way it’s is being marketed.
Search online today and you’ll find an endless stream of products aimed specifically at dogs and cats. At first glance, it all seems reassuring. Every product has a picture of a happy dog on the front, every website claims its oils are specially formulated for pets and every company appears convinced they’ve produced something unique.
The reality is a little more complicated than that.
If you’re researching Pet CBD, it’s worth understanding that not all products are made to the same standard, and not all companies approach the market in the same way.
In our opinion, that’s one of the biggest reasons pet owners should spend a little longer researching the business they’re buying from rather than simply choosing the first product that appears on Google.
The Packaging Often Gets More Attention Than the Ingredients
Let’s be honest.
Most of us are influenced by appearance.
A professionally designed bottle naturally creates a better first impression than something that looks as though it was printed on a home printer.
But appearance only tells you so much.
You can’t judge ingredient quality from a label.
You can’t tell how transparent a company is.
You certainly can’t see what standards were followed during manufacturing.
Yet those are the things that actually matter.
We’ve always believed that once the packaging has caught your attention, the information should keep it.
If a company can’t clearly explain what it’s selling, that’s usually where we’d start asking questions.
We Chose to Stay With Human-Grade Products
One question we’ve been asked countless times is why we didn’t create a completely separate “pet” CBD product.
The answer is actually quite simple.
We’ve always believed that quality should come first.
Our CBD oils are manufactured as human-grade products, and that’s exactly how we’ve wanted to keep them.
That means the same attention to ingredient quality, manufacturing standards and consistency that we’d expect for ourselves is also applied to the products our customers choose for their pets.
It would have been easy to take a different route.
We chose not to.
The Carrier Oil Deserves More Credit
Most conversations about CBD focus entirely on the cannabidiol itself.
That’s understandable.
It’s the ingredient everybody recognises.
But CBD isn’t the only thing inside the bottle.
The carrier oil matters too.
It’s something that’s often overlooked, yet it forms a significant part of the finished product.
At CBD-UK we’ve always used human-grade salmon oil as our carrier oil.
That’s a deliberate decision.
There are cheaper alternatives available.
There always have been.
For us, though, lowering the quality of one ingredient simply because customers might never notice didn’t feel like the right approach.
Good products are usually the result of lots of sensible decisions rather than one spectacular ingredient.
Not Everything Being Sold Is The Same
This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions in the market.
Because products often look similar, people naturally assume they’re broadly identical.
They’re not.
Manufacturing standards differ.
Ingredients differ.
Carrier oils differ.
The amount of information provided differs enormously.
That’s why we always encourage people to compare businesses rather than just comparing bottles.
Ask yourself simple questions.
Does the company explain why it uses certain ingredients?
Does it talk about quality in practical terms?
Can you understand exactly what you’re buying?
If the answer is yes, you’re already learning far more than any label could ever tell you.
Regulations Can Be Confusing
One thing that’s become increasingly obvious is that many pet owners are confused by the way CBD products are presented online.
That’s understandable.
The regulatory position isn’t something most people spend their evenings reading about.
What matters is understanding that there is a difference between products manufactured as human food supplements and veterinary medicines.
Knowing that distinction helps explain why different companies present their products in different ways.
Rather than relying purely on marketing, it’s worth taking a little time to understand exactly what a business is offering.
Good companies shouldn’t make that difficult.
Why THC Is So Important
Another subject that deserves more attention is THC.
Although CBD and THC both come from cannabis, they are completely different compounds.
Dogs and cats are particularly sensitive to THC, and exposure to THC can be harmful.
That’s one reason why understanding exactly what you’re buying is so important.
A responsible CBD company should be transparent about its products and provide clear information so customers know what they’re purchasing.
If you’re ever unsure, ask.
No genuine business should object to sensible questions.
One Thing We Hope Never Changes
The CBD industry has evolved enormously since we first entered it.
Products have improved.
Awareness has grown.
Customers are much better informed.
Those are all positive changes.
What we hope never changes is the expectation that companies should be transparent.
If a business believes in its products, it shouldn’t need to hide behind marketing language.
It should be happy to explain:
- what the product contains
- how it’s made
- why particular ingredients have been chosen
- what standards have been followed
That information helps customers make better decisions.
It also helps separate businesses that genuinely care about quality from those relying mainly on attractive packaging.
Pet Owners Usually Ask Better Questions
One thing we’ve genuinely enjoyed seeing over the years is how much more knowledgeable pet owners have become.
The questions have changed.
Years ago people often asked,
“What is CBD?”
Today they’re much more likely to ask,
“What carrier oil do you use?”
“Is it independently tested?”
“Why did you choose that formulation?”
Those are much better questions.
They encourage better conversations and ultimately lead to better buying decisions.
The Best Companies Usually Explain More Than They Sell
When you spend enough time comparing CBD businesses, something interesting starts happening.
You begin remembering the companies that taught you something.
Not the ones shouting the loudest.
Not the ones running permanent sales.
The businesses that quietly explain their products, answer questions honestly and give customers confidence before they buy are often the ones people come back to.
We think that’s particularly important when pets are involved.
Owners aren’t looking for flashy marketing.
They’re looking for reassurance.
Why We Still Believe Quality Comes First
If someone asked us what has remained unchanged since we first started supplying CBD products that customers choose for their pets, the answer would be straightforward.
Quality still comes first.
Not because it sounds good in marketing.
Because it’s the foundation that everything else is built on.
Human-grade ingredients.
Human-grade salmon oil.
Clear information.
Transparency.
High standards.
Those things aren’t particularly glamorous.
They probably won’t create a viral advert.
But they do something much more valuable.
They give people confidence that they’re buying from a company that’s thought carefully about every decision, not just the ones customers immediately notice.
And in our experience, that’s exactly the kind of business people remember when it’s time to buy their next bottle.
